David Slack - Web developer

This project was the first Drupal 7 site I created commercially and I feel was a success. The client was Bitopea (who provided the design) and I worked with another developer, Ian Gristock. We used Views and the new CCK like module embedded into Drupal 7 to create the content pages and teasers.

The images used the new embedded ImageCache like module which works very well to crop and resize uploaded images.

The design was completed by Bitopia and the CMS was added to the design by myself. Ian Gristock (the second developer from Tramp Creative) created content and content types.

We then both sorted permissions, added the Twitter feed and slideshow at the top.

Except Drupal 7 the only part of the project that was not straightforward was the contact details block on the right of some of the content. After creating the fields for the contact details and adding them to the content type we created a block for them in Views. Next we filtered the block by the ID of the node the contact detail came from so only the relevant details where shown for each page.

Drupal 7 comes with much more as standard than Drupal 6 (like image handling, Field creation, etc) so is much quicker to set up, but the thing that is most important in Drupal 7 is the setup of the site. There is now no touching files until you come to create the theme! No adding module folders or image folders, no uploading modules, you can now do this from the front end.

All in all the Rotary project went extremely well and using Drupal 7 is a must for any non eCommerce projects in the future
